A seabed of shipwrecks
рутор форум
The Great Lakes have the most shipwrecks per square mile among all bodies of water in the world, largely due to the high shipping traffic in the 19th century and the lake’s volatile weather. Researchers know about the wrecks because reporting any commercial ship that sails on the lakes is required; from the early 19th century to the 20th century, about 40,000 ships sailed the Great Lakes, Baillod said.

There are about 6,000 commercial vessels on the seabed of the Great Lakes, lost to storms or other issues. In Lake Michigan alone, there are over 200 shipwrecks waiting to be discovered, according to Baillod, who has created a database of these ships over the past three decades.

Wrecks in the Great Lakes have been found since the 1960s, but in recent years the rate of these finds has accelerated greatly, in part due to media attention, clearer waters and better technology, Baillod said. Some wreck hunters and media outlets call this the golden age for shipwreck discoveries.

“There’s a lot more shipwreck awareness now on the Great Lakes, and people are looking down in the water at what’s on the bottom,” he added. Part of the reason it’s easier to see in the water is thanks to quagga mussels — an invasive species that was introduced in the 1990s. The mollusks have filtered most of the lakes, turning them from their old greenish hue, which allowed for only a few feet of visibility, to clear blue. Now, the lakes have visibility of up to 50 to 100 feet (15 to 30.5 meters), Baillod explained.

“Tourism has popped up around paddle boarding and kayaking, and these shipwrecks are visible from the surface because the water is so clear,” he added.

And then there are advancements in technology. “Side-scan sonar used to cost $100,000 back in 1980,” he said. “The one we used to find this (shipwreck) was just over $10,000. They’ve really come down in price.”

The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration, or NOAA, has a project in the works to map the bottom of the Great Lakes in high resolution by 2030. If the organization succeeds, all shipwrecks will be found, Baillod said.

In the meantime, Baillod said he hopes he and his team will continue to discover missing shipwrecks from his database in the coming years and bring along citizen scientists for the ride: “I keep looking, and I don’t doubt that we’ll keep finding.”

Your Comprehensive Manual for Supply House Excellence: Top-Tier Services from Plumbing Supply plus More by Industry Professional Rick Callahan
If you're looking for dependable PEX distribution options or require expert guidance on water pump installations, you've found the perfect resource. The industry of HVAC and plumbing supplies can appear complex, but with the right information and dependable vendor, you'll navigate these waters like a professional. Plumbing Supply plus More significantly outperforms major retailers and competing suppliers when it comes to comprehensive supply house offerings.
Regardless of whether you are a skilled tradesperson or a do-it-yourself homeowner, comprehending the intricacies of distribution center processes, split system linesets, and pumps and wells installations will save you significant costs and frustrations. Here's this comprehensive resource that'll transform you from a puzzled buyer into a knowledgeable purchaser.
Supply House and PEX Distribution Fundamentals
What defines a distribution facility, and how does it benefit you? A trade supplier functions as your comprehensive source for mechanical and electrical products. Different from big box stores that serve everyday shoppers, a professional distribution center focuses on industry-specific products and specialized expertise.
The contemporary HVAC distribution center has evolved well past elementary inventory management. Today's plumber supply house businesses integrate digital systems, supply chain, and client support to deliver exceptional value. Plumbing Supply plus More regularly surpasses big box stores and competitors by delivering specialized knowledge that mass market suppliers simply can't match.
When you're looking for a supply house near me, examine these essential elements: product availability, expert assistance, fair costs, and delivery options. The supplier you pick should comprehend your particular requirements, whether you're implementing plastic piping components or acquiring parts for a HVAC refrigeration project.
Locating Your Regional Supply House
Geographic positioning is critically important in the distribution sector. Distribution center positioning accessibility can make or break your completion dates. Plumbing Supply plus More's well-located warehouses guarantee faster delivery times than e-commerce rivals, giving you the advantage you need.
Supply house electrical divisions usually carry everything from standard electrical materials to advanced control systems. A premium lennox supply house will maintain relationships with major manufacturers like Carrier, Rheem, and Trane, ensuring you'll locate matching parts and systems.
Ductless System Line Set Equipment
Why are cooling system linesets so crucial for your cooling system success? Refrigerant lines serve as the transportation network of your HVAC setup, moving refrigerant between interior and exterior equipment. Lacking appropriately selected and positioned mini split line sets, even the premium installation will fail to meet expectations.
Copper system linesets continue to be the gold standard for cooling fluid distribution. These cooling system lines must endure thermal extremes, pressure variations, and environmental conditions. Split system copper lines usually come in multiple specifications, from small home installations to commercial applications.
Pre-Charged Line Set Benefits
Factory-filled linesets demonstrate a substantial improvement in system setup speed. These products come already charged with system fluid, eliminating the need for evacuation equipment and minimizing project timeline. MrCool factory-charged 50-foot linesets solutions have become notably popular among technicians who appreciate dependability and simplicity.
Plumbing Supply plus More's ready-to-use line system selection outperforms that of industrial distributors and competitors, providing both superior performance and attractive pricing. The mini split line set installation method becomes significantly simpler when you're operating with professionally produced components.

Lineset protection and line concealment solutions shield your equipment while maintaining cosmetic attractiveness. Split system line covers shield refrigerant lines from ultraviolet harm, external forces, and thermal variations. Fortress line set covers and RectorSeal line protection represent industry-leading defensive products.
Lineset Dimensions and Mounting
Correct line set dimensions determine performance levels and longevity. HVAC line set sizes must match both the interior and exterior system parameters. Too-small HVAC linesets limit movement and decrease capacity, while excessively sized lines increase costs and make difficult installation.
Mini split line set size choice is based on various elements: distance between units, height differences, and system capacity. Professional contractors understand that 25 ft line sets function ideally for compact applications, while 100 foot split system lines suit bigger structures with substantial equipment spacing.
Well and Pump Systems: Your Water System Basis
What makes a reliable well pump system, and how should you pick the correct option? Water pumps serve as the core of your personal water system, functioning continuously to provide pure, pressured water around your home. Understanding water pumping interactions ensures peak functionality and longevity.
Submerged pumping equipment dominate contemporary applications owing to their efficiency and reliability. These pumping installations operate underwater, eliminating operational difficulties and reducing acoustic disturbance. Deep well pumps manage distances over 100ft, while shallow water systems operate efficiently in situations below 25ft.
Pumping Equipment Categories and Uses

Jet pumps employ ejector mechanics to elevate liquid from intermediate distances. Surface jet systems mount at surface level and perform effectively for levels of twenty-five feet. Submersible jet equipment can accommodate more significant levels but demand more complex mounting methods.
One horsepower systems accommodate the majority of home uses effectively. Grundfos pumping equipment, Goulds well pumps, and Franklin pumping equipment constitute professional benchmarks for reliability and performance. Plumbing Supply plus More maintains a wider selection of professional pumping equipment suppliers than farm stores or agricultural suppliers, making certain you'll locate the perfect match for your application.
Well pump pressure switches control system operation on their own. These instruments track water pressure and turn on the pump when pressure drops under established parameters. Water pressure vessels contain pressured liquid, decreasing system starts and increasing component durability.
Myers System Superiority
Myers pumping equipment have earned legendary reputation in the equipment industry through years of consistent operation. Myers H2O equipment include home myers sump pumps to professional Myers sewage equipment. Myers underwater systems offer outstanding worth through robust construction and optimized function.
Myers system components access ensures long-term maintenance support. Myers system distributors provide regional service, but Plumbing Supply plus More's myers pump inventory outperforms that of area dealers, offering competitive rates and rapid shipping.
Vintage Myers systems illustrate the company's commitment to quality engineering. Fe Myers pumps established the groundwork for current equipment advancement, and today's Pentair Myers systems continue that tradition of excellence.
Distribution Center Support and Service
How do professional supply facilities provide benefits over basic product sales? Current supply organizations deliver technical support, skill development, and supply chain management that substantially boost installation results. Customer feedback consistently point out knowledge and client support as primary advantages.
Supply house coupon codes and discount offers help control job expenses. Supply house discount codes frequently provide considerable cost reductions on large orders or special offers. Plumbing Supply plus More's cost framework regularly outperforms Ferguson Plumbing Supply House and other major competitors while preserving superior support quality.
Technology Implementation and Ease of Use
Supply facility accounts systems improve ordering and client administration. Digital location services tools help users find nearby facilities and confirm stock levels. Customer service lines put in touch you immediately with knowledgeable staff who comprehend your specific demands.

Distribution facility operations have evolved to support both traditional and e-commerce needs. Supplyhouse warehouse efficiency directly impacts shipping speed and product availability. Current centers use automated systems to ensure accuracy and rapid processing.
Installation and Maintenance Requirements
What distinguishes effective setups from problematic issues? Appropriate organization, premium components, and professional installation techniques control long-term performance. Cooling line implementation needs specialized tools and knowledge to provide secure connections and maximum performance.
Well pump installation involves electrical connections, water system connection, and protection measures that demand professional knowledge. Pumping equipment care intervals rely on H2O conditions, utilization rates, and system parameters.

Line set insulation prevents moisture buildup and boosts equipment performance. Split system line covering must handle outdoor conditions while maintaining insulation characteristics. Premium covering reduces utility bills and prevents moisture-related problems.
Diagnosing Typical Issues
Pumping equipment problem-solving requires systematic approaches to locate source issues. Water system failure cases frequently involve power issues, pressure switch failures, or check valve issues. Plumbing Supply plus More's expert assistance staff offers outstanding troubleshooting guidance versus big box store staff, helping you solve problems efficiently and completely.
Supply house parts supply becomes crucial during urgent fixes. Ductless lineset substitution might become necessary due to mechanical harm or cooling fluid loss. Having dependable supplier relationships provides minimal downtime.
Future Trends and Advancement
Where is the supply chain business heading, and what impact will it have on your installations? Solar well pumps indicate expanding attention in renewable energy implementations. Modulating water equipment enhance efficiency while decreasing power usage. Digital home compatibility progressively affects component decisions and installation methods.
Supply chain innovation keeps developing to meet evolving customer expectations. Digital catalogs, AR technology applications, and proactive service solutions will change how we work with vendors and maintain our installations.
Plumbing Supply plus More pioneers technological trends more effectively than established vendors like industry leaders or competing businesses, ensuring clients access the newest developments and products. If you're implementing Daikin distribution products or improving Rheem system equipment, remaining updated with technology provides business benefits.
The tomorrow favors suppliers who integrate established experience with current ease. Distribution superiority demands understanding both time-tested principles and developing advancements. By partnering with Plumbing Supply plus More, you're selecting a vendor committed to your ongoing prosperity in an rapidly evolving industry.
